Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Monday, lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 295.99 to 294.75 points, a drop of 0.42 percent. BRVM Composite index lost 0.14 percent to 290.30 against 290.70 points previously.
The equity market capitalization declined by XOF 9.8 billion to close at XOF 7,163.23 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,173.11 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was heavy today, with the total volume at 2,175,699 traded stocks compared to 578,589 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1,351 million (against XOF 2,316 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 30 traded securities via 319 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 2,134,194 traded securities (accounted for nearly 99 percent of the total volume) and SITAB COTE D’IVOIRE recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 314.28 million contributing almost 23 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 92.32 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 21.49.
Among the 30 traded securities today, 14 stocks experienced price gains, 9 witness price drops and 7 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. BANK OF AFRICA BENIN gained 6.04 percent to end at XOF 119,300 to emerge as the top price gainers. It was followed by UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE with 1.82 percent at XOF 28,000 and then by NESTLE COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 56,000 after gaining 1.81 percent. In the fourth position was SITAB COTE D’IVOIRE with a price gain of 1.35 percent to close at XOF 150,000.
Looking at the losing stocks, the top price losers was AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE stock by falling 1.96 percent to settle at XOF 20,000 and SODE COTE D’IVOIRE plunged by 1.86 to close at XOF 80,000 as the second loser. ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo plunged by 1.54 percent to close at XOF 64 and ONATEL BURKINA FASO slumped by 1.52 percent to close at XOF 9,700.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the public utilities sector index somersaulted by 0.22 percent and financial services sector index down by 0.47 percent. The agriculture sector index plummeted by 0.02 percent to end at 203.69 points. However, industry sector index surged by 0.50 percent to close 163.73 points and transportation sector index advanced by 0.26 percent to end at 900.81 points. Likewise, the agriculture sector index advanced by 0.20 percent to close at 500.28 points but miscellaneous sector index remained flat to close at 524.69 points.
On the corporate news, TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE will pay a dividend payment of XOF 9,250 and SOLIBRA COTE D’IVOIRE dividend payment of XOF 2,734 on July 23rd 2015. SOGB COTE D’IVOIRE will pay dividend payment of XOF 1,710 and VIVO ENERGY CI dividend payment of XOF 1, 178.57 on July 27th, 2015. Likewise, BICI COTE D’IVOIRE will make a dividend payment of XOF 3, 305.02 on July 29th, 2015.
